Recently, good news from headquarter of ISO/IEC (International Standard Organization/International Electro-technical Commission) is that great breakthrough in international strategy of IGRS standard has been made. Under the loving care of Standardization administration of the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Information Industry, National Development and Reform Committee, and relevant sections of Beijing, as well as great support of members of IGRS alliance, IGRS international standard proposal（ISO/IEC）gained support from great power in information field, such as America, Japan, Korea, France, and England, etc, after long-term tough negotiations and positive communication. The proposal passed the latest FCD international voting. China IGRS will certainly become the world’s first international standard in 3C-convergence.
IGRS work team is initiated by five domestic backbone enterprises, such as Lenovo, TCL, KONKA, Hisense, and Great Wall in 2003, and established under the guidance of Ministry of Information Industry. The core task is formulation and promotion of 3C-convergence standard of proprietary intellectual property rights. Under the guidance and support of government sections at all levels, after four years’ development, IGRS has become standard organization and national standard of start first, develop fast, strong industrialization in domestic 3C-convergence. China IGRS standard is not only the first industry and national standard in domestic 3C-convergence, but also the first international standard proposal. In July 2006, the proposal gained official approval of ISO/IEC (International Standard Organization/International Electro-technical Commission), and passed Committee CD stage overwhelmingly in March 2007. This time the proposal passed FCD voting successfully. This means there is no suspense that China IGRS standard become international standard.
3C-convergence is common trend of the world’s electronic information development. China IGRS standard is of great power for domestic enterprise to break through international standard barrier and technical monopoly, and seize the commanding heights of the development strategy in future international electronic information industry. Facing opportunity and challenge generated from new international division of labor, IGRS makes good use of its own advantages, and innovates unceasingly to make larger contribution to propel the change of development model in electronic information industry and enforce innovative country strategy.
In “Discussion on hot theory topic in 2007” held by Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, as important result and case of innovative country strategy implement, IGRS and "Shenzhou VI" show that the central government confirms IGRS model and achievements. China IGRS standard realizes historical breakthrough under guidance of our country’s policy, as well as support of market economical industrialization. It is witness of China's economic development by leaps and bounds, and also milestone of making technology standard independently and achieving international standard breakthrough for Chinese big enterprises. The achievement is result of joint efforts by member enterprises of IGRS Association. Meanwhile, China enterprises pay attention to national and industrial interests, open cooperation, jointly make IGRS standard and positively promote its industrialization. IGRS standard create a precedent for China enterprises’ competition and cooperation.
While make and improve standard, relied on hundreds of members of Association, IGRS propels standard industrialization continuously. So far, IGRS products of nearly thirty brands have come into market, such as IGRS PC, laptop, TV, cell phone, and projector. It is predicted that up to end of 2007, cumulative sale will break five million. China IGRS becomes international standard in world 3C-convergence. It’s China’s contribution to world 3C-convergence, and will certainly stimulate 3C market.
IGRS Association always aims at enhancing the right to speak for China enterprises with standard. Allied with each member, IGRS Association implements comprehensively and propels industrialization of IGRS standard in China and all over the world. Meanwhile, IGRS Association continues to persist in principle of technology innovation and industrialization breakthrough, and submit new IGRS proposal unceasingly to ISO/IEC so as to drive international progress of China IGRS standard all around.
