After IGRS became international standard last year with approval of ISO/IEO, it has made great breakthrough in commercialization and core technology authorization. Recently, TCL IGRS middleware platform, developed independently by TCL industrial research institute is officially entrusted to Shenzhen Zonghengxin Technology Company (Shenzhen Zonghengxin for short). This symbols that IGRS, the first 3C-convergence through many years’ accumulation, is stepping into industrialization stage and franchising stage of core technology. Meanwhile, this also means interconnection in Chinese digital family no longer follows the same old disastrous road as DVD industry, which pays patent fee for foreign technology.
It’s reported that in four years after establishment, IGRS has accumulated more than two hundred patents, covering customers and supplier of 3C-conergence industry chain, of which only TCL IGRS box development generates twenty patents for software core technology. Just as LI Dongsheng, main initiator of IGRS, chairman of TCL said “We missed the first global electronic information technology reform. However, in future digital home era, Chinese enterprises must take a position. Otherwise, we will be in the subordinate status forever. ” Reviewing Chinese enterprise encountering patent impedance in DVD, PC, and color TV. IGRS standard is of realistic significance. This means that in digital home fields with interconnection of PC, TV, Baffle box, refrigerator, air conditioner, DV, DC, Chinese enterprises will at the same starting point of technology with foreign manufacturers, even charge for patent licensing.
