SUN Chuhui released in the second half year, IGRS cooperated with core enterprisers and put important products in market, as well as enter big malls. He predicted that 2008 was the year when IGRS enter outbreak period. Currently, IRGS has developed five years’ market.
One phase in IGRS international journey
SUN Chuhui said that for the process of IGRS’s application for international standard, currently IGRS has passed FCD and there is one link left to become international standard. This means that time is only the problem for IGRS to become international standard.
SUN Chuhui made a detailed explanation on interconnection of IGRS and HD-PLC.
In this afternoon, IGRS will sign contract with HD-PLC. IGRS and HD-PLC interconnect with each other.
SUN Chufang made a detailed explanation on the cooperation to Sina. He explained that IGRS’s goal was to make 3C products interconnect with each other. Currently, interconnection was achieved through wireless technology. After interconnecting with HD-PLC, another selection way will be provide, that is interconnection among home 3c products will be fulfilled once plug in.
Recently, HD-PLC is popular in Japan and Taiwan. China started a pilot. However, there was no large-scale promotion. SUN Chuhui said signing with HD-PLC is of great importance for IGRS to promote its international industrialization.
Speaking of influence the cooperation exerts, SUN Chuhui said currently technology can be achieved through installing MODEM in home LAN. He also revealed that in electric power telecommunication, IGRS gained standard approvals of the country. This laid the foundation for fulfilling domestic industrialization. (Lixiong)

NIU Lixiong, the host: Good moring, netizens! It is the first day Sinoces 2008 was held in Qingdao. We are very pleased to invite very important guest, SUN Chuhui, vice president of IGRS to talk about IGRS progress, and is going to sign contract this afternoon.
Some netizens used some IGRS products, but they may not know they used IGRS products. Please introduce IGRS development scale.
SUN: July 10 is a coincidence day that on July 10, 2003 IGRS work team was set up. So it’s just five anniversaries. IGRS started in 2002. From beginning of interconnection application of IGRS, together with Lenovo, TCL, KONKA, Hisense, Great Wall afterwards discussed and prepared at end of 2002, considering it was 3C-convergence industry trend. During industry transformation process, there should be a uniform standard, achieving seamless intelligent interconnection among different equipments. Thus, IGRS concept and organization were formed.
It’s been five years since IGRS was established, but the whole process has been five to six years.
Host: In development process, IGRS isn’t like an organization. Who is the leader? Here why we adopt this way and mechanism?
SUN: Actually, we can see there are several ways to make standard in our country and the world. The first one is to start from technology. After new technology is developed, naturally good technology will become industry standard. The second is some giant has strong influence in industry, and its stuff is accepted by all, thus standard is made. The third is our domestic enterprises want to play a role in the world, and a suitable way is taken.
Chinese enterprises, like Lenovo, and TCL are renowned enterprises. However, compared with international enterprises, there’s still a long way to long. Especially Lenovo of that day, not like today Lenovo, together with other Chinese giants said we should join hands and didn’t always take foreign standard and there was patent dispute. At this time, we say let our Chinese enterprises make the standard. We use it first and then take it to the world.
Host: We have our own standard. Speaking of how to become international standard, please introduce how IGRS develops internationally?
SUN: Currently, IGRS standardarization process is very satisfying. After IGRS became an international standard in 2005, we focused on the world. Since IGRS was set up as a project in 2006, it developed successfylly after many hardships. Now it’s the last phase, and the result to become an international standard will come out soon.
Host: We saw before that some media reported important phase for IGRS was finished, or IGRS has been an internationl standard?
SUN: You may see in former materials that international standard should go through project set up, Committe Draft, and Final Committe Draft. We have finished CD, and we are in phase of FDIS, that is Final Draft of International Standard. We are in process of voting. If voting result is good, we will offically become an international standard.
Host: Process of our standard is very smmoth. We have seen many products in industrilization process. Our netizens haven’t see IGRS in home. Could you please introduce IGRS industrilization process?
SUN: IGRS mainly relies on every shareholder. Industrilization isn’t conducted only by IGRS. IGRS plays an important role in public technology and products plan. In the process, what you have seen isn’t a popularization situation. All new forms, especially like 3C-convergence, the first thing is acceptance, the second is technology maturity and the third is participants cognition. We can see in 2008, IGRS will enter outbreak period.
Host: It means products will enter our homes?
SUN: In second half of this year, we will take important products to big mall, which is a visible sales channel for you. We coopeate with our core enterprises and some important products will enter market in second half of this year.
Host: IGRS standard merges other standards. Inernationally, standard merging is the trend. Could you please introduce basic situation?
SUN: There is certain historical development technology for power line communication. However, PLC promotion in China before is limited to unstable pwer system, such as band width isn’t enough. But today’s technology basiclly solves the problem. Now high-definition power line transfer can reach 200M or above. Our network cable is generally 1M or 2M, plus application of high-definition, so it’s not difficulf to enter homes. Homes demand high-definition content. So there is a great demand for high-definition pwer line in China.
Under this background, we think IGRS standard supportes every wireless and wire connection. And we think it will be the interconnection in digital home. Power line communication is one of mainstream ways, so IGRS must include it.
Firstly IGRS has an open policy that hope all can merge and exsits harmoniously. Ideas of Panasonic and ours are very similar. We are willing to so some things together, so this afternoon’s signing ceromony is held.
Host: What’s the scene like in our homes, for there are interconnection of two standards? Before, every product could be inter-controlled through wireless method. Later interconnection will be achieved by power line?
SUN: If PLC technology and equipment is used in homes, network line won’t be used. Only if outer network line is connected into homes, power line socket can be pluged in. Thus, communication is done.
Host： In our country, there are some pilots in power line online, but isn’t many. Isn’t because there is less influence on our country than on Japan and Taiwan? Users can feel that after standards interconnect, there are some pilots to use PL online based on IGRS, but the scale isn’t large. There are many users not to enjoy such way?
SUN: currently, technology and stalbe power power system haven’t been popular. However, we can see ever year there are lots of new buildings to be built. People who bug new houses will prepare network line. But there are lots of old houses. When you enjoy digital home, lines are rearranged. That’s a heavy work, and certain proportion of investment is needed. If power line is used, lines arrangement isn’t needed.
Beside, we also can see in some application situations, it may be very difficult to arrange lines, for example, billboard is hung elsewhere, and network line is needed. Except for difficulty of lines arrangement, there is uncertainty and bad environment for you to arrange the line. However, there is power line, such as mine and high risk sits. That’s a process. Everyone accepts the idea, technology is mature and cost is reduced soon, we beilve popularization is fast.
Host: Japan and Taiwan use the technology often. Are there fast development in our industrialization?
SUN: This is cooperation between IGRS and hig-definition power line. We beleve it will promote fast development of relevant products on our country. Just because of using power line communication, power and fun can be brought. Just because of merging and interconnection of the two standards, everyone feels free to do things based on wireless and wire. Power line makes it!
Host: We allies with Panasonic, etc. Except for standard interconnection, is there some clause and regulations on industrialization to help IGRS promote standard in Japan?
SUN: It’s a long time since IGRS was promoted in Japan. Several Janpan companies joined IGRS and high-definition power line communication. There are common places between the two alliances. Their goal is to promot industry and industrialization progress, and let consumers feel the fun. For next step, we will certainly focus on industrialization.
Host: We just mentioned the word, convergence. The two standards interconnect with each other, or merge?
SUN: IGRS has already applier for standard to apply power line, and standard has been reached. High-definition power line has been connected.
Host: We can operate at home through IGRS standard, plus high-definition power line standard convergence. Terminals can be interconnected for power line online? Is there other equipment needed?
SUN: From angle of technology, there is good result to promote technology in Brazil, where there is no network. In most areas, online is achieved completely by power line.
In China, including Japan, Japan optical fiber has entered homes. So we should sau it’s not neccessary to get rid of network arranged well. We can use power line at home.
